The Leadership Franklin Alumni Association was formally announced at the Leadership Franklin graduation dinner on April 13, 2005. This culminated from one of the group projects undertaken by the 9th Class of Leadership Franklin. The purpose of the Leadership Franklin Alumni Association is to continue networking relationships, have semi-annual fellowship, continue work on Leadership Franklin projects, and to raise money for these purposes.
Recently, the Executive Committee of Leadership Franklin met to focus efforts on building a more vibrant and involved alumni group, which now includes in excess of 220 alums. It is our goal to energize our alumni group to do the following:
- Serve as the backbone for the financial viability of Leadership Franklin. Many of our alums are part of local businesses and corporations. In most leadership organizations, these entities support the financial well-being of the organization. Our collective group of alumni has the ability and capacity to ensure the financial stability of our program.
- Create events each year that bring our alumni together. We have all shared a special experience and bonded within our group as we went through the Leadership Franklin program. We learned things about Franklin that we never knew. As alums, we need to broaden that unique experience and share it among all past graduates of the program. To do this, we need to come together on a more regular basis – and we need a group of alums who will make that happen.
- Form the basis on which the current class has a successful year. This part is pretty simple. There are two events each year which we need our alums to attend. Those events are the Opening Retreat and Graduation Day. Woody Allen said that 80% of success is “just showing up.” We need a group of us to help make sure that happens.
- Continue to advocate for high-quality individuals to apply to participate in Leadership Franklin. This speaks for itself, as our alums are the greatest referral sources that we have.
As we collaborate to organize our efforts toward the above goals, we will keep you updated. And, if you are an alum, and we haven’t heard from you lately, please let us know by contacting us at request@LeadershipFranklin.org
